Determination of Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) Viscosity

The viscosity of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) can be measured by a Rotational Viscometer (eg Brookfield viscometer). Here are some steps:

  1. Prepare the samples: Prepare a carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) solution of a certain concentration according to the standard operating procedure.

  2. Adjust the temperature: Heat the Rotational Viscometer to the test temperature and preheat it.

  3. Device sample: Pour the adjusted temperature sample into the test cup of the Rotational Viscometer.

  4. Measuring Viscosity: Use a Rotational Viscometer to measure the viscosity of the sample, and record the readings displayed by the viscometer.

  5. Data processing: Calculate the viscosity value of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) based on the concentration of the sample and the reading of the viscometer.

NBCHAO reminds you: Different types of Rotational Viscometers may have different measurement conditions, so specific test procedures should be followed for measurement. In addition, different sources and preparation conditions of CMC samples may affect their viscosity values, so standardized CMC samples should be used for testing.
