Determination of insoluble content of polyacrylamide (PAM)

The insoluble content of polyacrylamide (PAM) in water can be determined by the following methods:

  1. Take a certain amount of PAM sample, add a certain amount of water, stir evenly, and place it at room temperature for a period of time.

  2. Filter the sample, filter out insoluble substances with filter paper or glass fiber filter membrane, and collect the filtrate.

  3. The filtrate was placed on a Hot Plate and allowed to evaporate to constant mass to obtain the residue mass.

  4. Calculate the insoluble content, the formula is as follows:

    Insoluble matter content (%) = residue mass/sample mass × 100%

NBCHAO reminds you: Pay attention to the water content of the sample when measuring, and use a filter paper or membrane that is fine enough to avoid inaccuracy due to the large pore size of the filter paper.
