Gloss testing of nanocoatings is done to assess their surface quality and performance. Nanocoatings have very small particle sizes and are able to provide more uniform coverage and higher surface hardness than conventional coatings. However, due to its small particle size, more tiny defects and irregular shapes may appear on the surface of nano-coatings, which may affect its gloss and appearance. Therefore, measuring the gloss of nanocoatings can assess their surface quality and performance, and identify any defects that need to be repaired or improved. At the same time, the gloss test can also be used to evaluate the durability and anti-corrosion properties of nano-coatings, so as to ensure that they can maintain their appearance and performance for a long time. Therefore, during the manufacture and application of nano-coatings, gloss testing is a very important means of quality control.

The application of gloss meter in nano-coating gloss detection is mainly used to evaluate the gloss of the coating film surface. Since the particle size of nano-coatings is very small, usually between 1 and 100 nanometers, the optical properties of the surface of nano-coatings are different from ordinary coatings, and a special gloss meter is required for testing.
Measurement steps
Determine the test area: Select a representative paint film area for testing to avoid obvious defects or damage on the surface.
Calibrate the gloss meter: According to the instruction manual of the gloss meter, calibrate the instrument to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.
Measurement: Put the gloss meter perpendicular to the paint surface so that it forms an angle of about 60 degrees with the surface, and press the measurement button to measure. During the measurement, it is necessary to avoid interference between the instrument and other light sources.
Record data: After the measurement is completed, record the measurement results, including information such as gloss value and the location of the test area.
Data processing: According to actual needs, process and analyze the measurement data, such as calculating statistical indicators such as average value and standard deviation, or comparing and analyzing the data with other parameters.
NBCHAO reminds you: when testing the glossiness of nano-coatings, it is also necessary to consider the influence of coating film thickness, particle distribution, surface morphology and other factors on optical properties, so as to fully evaluate the quality and performance of coatings
