Three scholars, Cui Yan, Dou Xiaoli and Yu Dongmei from the State Key Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Engineering of South CHINA University of Technology, based on the study of the influence of metal ions on the color performance of inkjet printing paper coatings, used the US RDS05 spatula to prepare coating films, thereby Measure the whiteness, water resistance, ink absorption (K&N value) of the coating, the color density, color difference, water resistance, light resistance of the printed image, etc., and discuss the effect of metal ions on improving the printing performance of inkjet printing paper and its appropriate dosage.
The main experimental instruments used are: RDS05 scraping rod, paper Whiteness Meter, static drop contact angle measuring instrument, Gretagmacbeth Spectrophotometer , HPDeskJet710C inkjet printer, and ultraviolet lamp.
Other relevant experimental information is as follows:
Experimental material
Coated base paper (weight: 63g/m
2), light calcium carbonate (nano calcium carbonate, whiteness 90%), silicon dioxide (micron size 304μm), special starch for coatings, PVA (polymerization degree 1750±50), PDADMAC color fixing agent (solid content 63.88%) , copper dichloride (CuCl2.2H2O) (content not less than 99.0%, light blue-green crystal), ferric chloride (FeCl2.2H2O) (content not less than 99.7%, light green to blue crystal or crystalline powder), standard ink (coefficient 3.3).
1.3 Experimental method
1.3.1 Preparation of coatings
In this experiment, light calcium carbonate was used with a small amount of silicon dioxide as pigment, PVA and starch as adhesive, and CMC as water-retaining agent to prepare the coating. The coating formulations are formulated through experiments as shown in Table 1. The paint serial numbers represented by adding different substances are shown in Table 2.
1.3.2 Coating operation
RDS05 bar coating, air dry naturally.
1.3.3 Determination of inkjet printing paper coating whiteness, water resistance and ink absorption (K&N value)
Use a paper Whiteness Meter to measure the whiteness of the coating; use a static drop contact angle meter to measure the contact angle, which indirectly reflects the water resistance of the coating; use a standard ink with a coefficient of 3.3 to measure the ink absorption (K&N value) of the coating.
1.3.4 Determination of color density and color difference of inkjet printing paper
Use an HPDeskJet710C inkjet printer to print images on inkjet printing paper, and then use a Gretagmacbeth Spectrophotometer to measure the color density and color difference of the printed images.
1.3.5 Determination of Preservation Performance of Inkjet Printing Paper
Refer to the relevant test methods in Zhao Yuanfei's master's thesis "Research on the Recording Characteristics, Preservation Performance and Coating Suitability of High-Resolution Digital Photo Paper" in 2007.
