Glazed brick gloss detection

Diagram 1 for glossiness testing of polished glazed tiles

Glazed tile is a kind of ceramic tile whose surface is fired with high-temperature glaze, and its surface gloss is an important quality indicator. Measuring the gloss of glazed tiles can help evaluate the quality and aesthetics of its surface, and judge whether the thickness and uniformity of its glaze layer meet the requirements. In addition, different application scenarios require different gloss requirements. For example, high-end architectural decoration requires higher gloss, while industrial buildings do not require such high gloss. Therefore, during the production and sales process, measuring gloss can help ensure the consistency of glazed tile products and meet the required gloss standards. Finally, gloss can also reflect the characteristics of glazed tiles in terms of hardness, compression resistance, wear resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. Therefore, for glazed tile manufacturers and users, measuring the glossiness of glazed tiles is a necessary step to ensure product quality and choose a glazed tile style that suits their needs.

Measurement steps

  1. Preparations: Lay the polished glazed tiles to be tested on a flat test bench to ensure that the surface is free from obvious dirt and damage.

  2. Calibration instrument: calibrate according to the manual of the gloss meter to ensure accuracy and stability.

  3. Adjust the measurement position: Use the alignment device of the gloss meter to align the instrument at the center of the area to be tested.

  4. Take a measurement: Press the measurement button, the instrument will irradiate the area to be measured with light, and record the intensity of the reflected light. Repeat the measurement several times to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.

  5. Record measurement results: record the results of each measurement and calculate the average value. The results can be saved to the instrument for subsequent analysis and comparison.

  6. Analyzing the results: Based on the measurement results, the glossiness of the glazed tiles can be evaluated and compared to determine their quality and suitability.

NBCHAO reminds you: when testing the glossiness of glazed tiles, you should choose the appropriate measurement angle and light intensity to avoid errors and interference. At the same time, regular maintenance and calibration of the instrument is also required to ensure its accuracy and stability.
