Abrasion resistance, what is abrasion resistance?

Abrasion resistance refers to the resistance of paint films to friction. Some wood products have high abrasion resistance requirements on their surface paint films, such as writing desks, chair seats, floors, etc. Generally speaking, hard paint films have high abrasion resistance.

According to the "Furniture Surface Paint Film Abrasion Resistance Measurement Method", the national standard adopts a paint film abrasion instrument to measure the abrasion resistance of the paint film. The instrument has a rotating disc, and the paint film sample to be tested is placed on the disc. The speed of rotation, put a rubber abrasive wheels on the paint film, the abrasive wheels load 1000g weight, under the grinding of abrasive wheels with a certain load, the paint film with high abrasion resistance may grind for thousands or even tens of thousands of revolutions The paint film is not exposed or ground off. On the contrary, the paint film with poor abrasion resistance may grind for hundreds of revolutions and have been exposed to white and worn off (weight loss) many paint films, so the abrasion resistance of the paint film is based on a certain load. The number of white ground revolutions or the weight loss grams of the paint film under the specified number of revolutions (usually 100 revolutions) is expressed, and the abrasion resistance level of the paint film is evaluated.

The recommended instrument for measuring film abrasion resistance is a Wear testing machine.
