Application of color difference meter in color difference detection of ceramic tile coating

Tile coating refers to the application of a protective layer or surface treatment to tiles to enhance their appearance, durability and performance. Tiles are used in a wide variety of applications such as floors, walls, backsplashes, countertops, and decorative purposes for their beauty, versatility, and ease of maintenance.

The effect of chromatic aberration on ceramic coatings can affect the aesthetics and visual appearance of the tile. Ceramic coatings are often used to enhance the color, luster and durability of tiles, resulting in a consistent and uniform finish. Chromatic aberrations in ceramic coatings can cause changes in hue, hue, or saturation, resulting in visual inconsistencies and an undesirable appearance. This can affect the overall quality and perceived value of the tile, potentially resulting in unhappy customers, product rejections, and additional costs for rework or product recalls. Therefore, maintaining the color consistency of ceramic coatings cannot be overemphasized to ensure the desired aesthetic and visual effects are achieved, customer expectations are met and product quality is maintained.

The Colorimeter can accurately measure the color difference between different areas and provide color comparison data and reports to help determine whether the coating meets quality standards.

Measurement steps

  1. Prepare the sample: Prepare the sample of the tile to be inspected, making sure that the surface of the sample is clean, free of stains and dust.

  2. Standard Calibration: Before taking measurements, it is necessary to use standard samples to calibrate the Colorimeter. According to the model of the Colorimeter used, perform the calibration operation according to the instruction manual.

  3. Measure the sample: put the measuring head of the Colorimeter close to the tile surface, and press the trigger button to measure. During the measurement process, it is necessary to ensure that the measuring head is in stable contact with the sample surface, and avoid the influence of ambient light as much as possible.

  4. Data processing: After the measurement is completed, the Colorimeter will automatically calculate and display the measurement results. By comparing the measured value of the sample with the standard value, it can be judged whether the coating color meets the quality standard, and corresponding adjustments can be made.

NBCHAO reminds you: when testing the color difference of the tile coating, because the surface texture of the tile is relatively hard, it is necessary to select a suitable Colorimeter measuring head to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.
