ASTM D5019 Single-layer roofing film reinforced CSM board (chlorosulfonated polyethylene (PE)) standard interpretation

ASTM D5019 is a standard specification for reinforced CSM (chlorosulfonated polyethylene) sheets for single-ply roofing membranes. This standard specifies requirements for fabric-reinforced chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) as a single-ply roof membrane exposed to weather. It covers requirements for CSMs reinforced with single-ply fabric or fabric-laminated membranes and is suitable for roofing systems where the membrane is mechanically attached, fully adhered or ballasted. The standard also includes requirements for the physical, mechanical and performance properties of CSM sheets, as well as test methods for evaluating these properties.

ASTM D5019 specifies requirements for reinforced chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) sheets used as single-ply roofing membranes. The standard covers physical and mechanical properties of materials such as thickness, weight, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, puncture resistance and low temperature flexibility. It also provides guidance for testing these properties and finished product requirements, including dimensional stability, weather resistance and seam strength. This standard is commonly used in the construction industry to ensure the quality and durability of CSM sheet roofing materials.
