Precautions for using the adhesion instrument

AdhesIon Meter is a cross-cut device used to measure the adhesion of the coating film in the cross-cut method. By drawing vertically, horizontally and vertically on the coating sample plate, and then sticking the surface of the coating film with pressure-sensitive tape, and then using the torn off The tape was rated for peeling.Precautions for using the adhesion Tester with Figure 1

Therefore, it is conceivable that using the adhesIon Meter to measure the adhesion of the coating film is a manual operation, and the force applied to the coating when the hand is drawn, the speed when the hand holds the adhesIon Meter to draw the line It will inevitably affect the integrity of the graphics.

So, what should be paid attention to when using the adhesIon Meter in the adhesion test?

In my opinion, there are three main points to note:

1. When using an adhesion Tester to test, the speed of the crossing should be uniform and not too fast. The force applied to the coating should ensure that the coating can be scratched; otherwise, if the coating is relatively brittle, the speed is too high. When it is fast, it will cause cracks around the scribing line, and in severe cases, it will cause the corners to fall off.

2. Generally, a roll of pressure-sensitive tape is standardly equipped with a cross-hatcher when it leaves the factory, but it is far from enough for actual use. The industry generally uses 3M tape as the test consumable. When tearing off the tape for adhesion rating, special care needs to be taken to tear off the tape at a uniform speed, the angles must be parallel, and the speed needs to be uniform.

Of course, as for the integrity of the coating surface due to the reasons brought about during the preparation of the coating film, it is not described in this note.

To sum up, force and speed are two very important experimental considerations when applying the cross-cut adhesion Tester. Experimenters need to pay more attention to this aspect.

The following is the cross-cut sample drawn by the cross-cut adhesion Tester. The actual rating needs to be determined according to the adoption of international or domestic standards. For details, please refer to other articles related to adhesion.
