The following methods can be used to evaluate the dispersibility of pigments:
Observation method: Add the pigment into the transparent paint or solution, and observe the dispersion of the pigment with the naked eye. If the pigment is dispersed evenly and shows a uniform color, it means that the pigment dispersibility is good.
Sedimentation method: Add the pigment into the solution, and observe the sedimentation of the pigment after standing for a period of time. If the pigment dispersibility is good, the pigment will be uniformly dispersed in the solution without a large amount of precipitation.
Paint film method: add pigments into the paint, and observe the color uniformity after preparing the paint film. Paint films with good pigment dispersion exhibit uniform color without blotches or uneven color.
Pigment disperser method: Use a pigment disperser to test the pigment. The pigment disperser can measure the dispersion of the pigment in the solution, and the dispersion performance of the pigment can be judged by the test results.
Among the above methods, the pigment disperser method is a more accurate and scientific method, but it requires professional equipment and technology and is not easy to popularize. In general, observation method, sedimentation method and paint film method can be used as simple preliminary evaluation methods.
