What is a sulfur fluoride gas alarm?

A sulfur fluoride gas alarm is a device used to detect the concentration of sulfur fluoride (SF6) gas in the air. Based on the characteristics of sulfur fluoride gas, it measures the concentration of SF6 gas in indoor air through sensors and triggers an alarm when a set threshold is exceeded to remind people to take appropriate measures.

Working principle

Sulfur fluoride gas alarms typically use electrochemical sensors, infrared sensors, or semiconductor sensors to detect the concentration of SF6 gas. The sensor reacts chemically or physically with SF6 gas to generate an electrical signal or absorb light of a specific wavelength. The sensor measures and analyzes the degree of absorption of this electrical signal or light and determines the concentration of SF6 gas in indoor air based on the measurement results. Once the concentration of SF6 exceeds a set threshold, the alarm will issue an alarm signal such as sound, light, or vibration.

Application field

Sulfur fluoride gas alarms are widely used in the following fields:

Power industry: for the monitoring of SF6 gas leakage in power substations, high-voltage switchgear, and transmission lines.

Industrial process control: for leakage monitoring of equipment and pipelines that use SF6 gas in industrial production processes.

Mining and metallurgical industries: for leakage monitoring of equipment that uses SF6 gas in mining and metallurgical workplaces.

Scientific research laboratories: used for leakage monitoring of equipment and experiments using SF6 gas in scientific research laboratories.

Electronics manufacturing: Leak monitoring of equipment and working environments that use SF6 gas in the manufacturing of electronic equipment.

General technical parameters

The following are examples of some technical parameters in a sulfur fluoride gas alarm:

Technical parametersdescribe
Detection rangeMinimum and maximum detection ranges for SF6 gas concentrations in indoor air
resolutionThe number of decimal places in the measurement result
response timeTime from when the SF6 concentration exceeds the threshold to when the alarm is triggered
sensitivitySensitivity to changes in SF6 concentration
Operating temperature rangeThe temperature range in which the device can operate normally
