UV aging Test Chamber ageing resistance test in aluminum composite panel

Aluminum composite panel is a commonly used building decoration material composed of aluminum alloy and plastic. In outdoor environments, aluminum composite panels are affected by ultraviolet rays, climate change and other environmental factors, which can cause color fading, surface chalking, oxidation and reduced weather resistance.

The UV aging Test Chamber can simulate solar ultraviolet radiation and other climatic conditions, and evaluate its weather resistance and stability by accelerating the aging process of aluminum-plastic panels.

Test method

The specific test steps of the UV aging Test Chamber in the application of aluminum composite panels:

  1. Material selection and preparation: Select the aluminum-plastic panel material that meets the requirements. The aluminum-plastic panel is composed of aluminum alloy and plastic, and a standard sample with a certain thickness and specification should be selected.

  2. Set test conditions: According to the test requirements, determine the parameters such as UV radiation source, temperature, humidity and radiation time in the Test Chamber. These conditions should be able to simulate real UV radiation and climatic conditions, such as sunlight exposure, high temperature, humidity, etc.

  3. Installation sample: Fix the aluminum-plastic panel sample on the sample table of the Test Chamber to ensure that the surface of the sample is exposed to ultraviolet light sources. Different installation methods can be selected, such as horizontal placement or inclined installation, to simulate actual use.

  4. Start the test: Start the UV aging Test Chamber and expose the sample to simulated UV radiation. According to the set test conditions, the radiation is for a certain period of time. At the same time, the damp-heat cycle can be selectively performed to simulate the real climate environment.

  5. Monitoring and recording: Regularly monitor and record the performance changes of aluminum-plastic panel samples. Appropriate instruments and equipment, such as Colorimeters, surface chalking evaluators, adhesion Testers, etc., can be used to measure and record the color change, surface chalking degree, adhesion and gloss of aluminum-plastic panels.

  6. Evaluation results: According to the test data and evaluation indicators, analyze the aging degree and performance changes of the aluminum composite panel samples. Compare the differences between different test samples to evaluate the weather resistance and stability of the aluminum composite panel.

  7. Interpretation of results: According to the test results, evaluate the weather resistance and life expectancy of the aluminum-plastic panel. Determine material optimization plans and improvement measures to improve the weather resistance and long-term service performance of the aluminum-plastic panel.

Testing through the UV aging Test Chamber can provide reliability assessment of aluminum composite panel materials, guide manufacturers and users to choose suitable aluminum composite panel materials, and ensure their durability and stability in outdoor environments.

Industry standard

In the UV aging test of aluminum composite panels, you can refer to the following industry standards:

  1. ASTM G155: "Standard Practice for Operating Xenon Arc Light Apparatus for Exposure of Non-Metallic Materials"

    • ASTM G155 is a standard issued by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for operating xenon lamp radiation equipment for exposure testing of non-metallic materials, including aluminum-plastic panel materials. This standard can be used to evaluate the weather resistance of aluminum-plastic panels under UV radiation.

  2. ISO 4892-2: "Plastics — Methods of exposure to laboratory light sources — Part 2: Xenon-arc lamps"

    • ISO 4892-2 is a standard published by the international standards organization (ISO) concerning the exposure of plastic materials to laboratory light sources, including xenon lamps. Some of the test methods in this standard can be applied to the UV aging test of aluminum composite panels.

Specific application

Specific application cases include but are not limited to the following areas:

  1. Construction industry: Aluminum composite panels are widely used in building exterior wall decoration, curtain wall systems, commercial building facades, etc. Through ultraviolet aging test, the weather resistance and color stability of aluminum composite panel materials can be evaluated to ensure their long-term performance in outdoor environments.

  2. Billboards and display panels: Aluminum-plastic panels are often used to make billboards, display panels and signage boards. UV aging testing can evaluate the weather resistance and stability of aluminum-plastic panels to ensure that they maintain bright colors and appearance in outdoor environments for a long time.

  3. Interior decoration and furniture: Aluminum-plastic panels are also suitable for interior decoration and furniture production, such as wall decoration, ceiling, furniture surfaces, etc. Through the UV aging test, the weather resistance and color stability of aluminum-plastic panels can be evaluated to ensure that they maintain good appearance and performance in the indoor environment for a long time.

  4. Transportation field: Aluminum-plastic panels are often used in traffic signs, body decoration and car interiors. Through the UV aging test, the weather resistance and color stability of aluminum-plastic panels in the transportation environment can be evaluated to ensure their long-term reliability and appearance quality.

According to different application fields and market requirements, it may be necessary to refer to other industry standards and specifications to ensure that the performance of aluminum composite panel materials meets relevant requirements.
