The gloss measurement is specified in GB 9754-88 "Determination of 20 °, 60 ° and 85 ° Mirror Gloss of Paint Films Without Metallic Pigments". In the painting construction site, the coating gloss is an item that needs to be tested frequently, and can be skimmed with portable light, such as the miniature gloss meter manufactured by TQC company.
It should be pointed out that in order to improve the sensitivity of the measurement, for different gloss ranges, gloss meters at different angles should be used for measurement. As shown in Figure 8-2, the 60 ° gloss meter is suitable for measuring medium gloss coatings with a gloss of 10-70%. When using a 60 ° gloss meter to measure high-gloss coatings with a gloss of more than 70%, a 20 ° gloss meter should be used. When using a 60 ° gloss meter to measure low-gloss coatings with a gloss of less than 10%, an 85 ° gloss meter should be used. However, for better measurement sensitivity, when measuring less than 30% of low gloss coatings with a 60 ° gloss meter, an 85 ° gloss meter can also be used.
