Core knowledge of protective test equipment: sand and dust and rain equipment

Sand and dust test equipment

In the storage, transportation and use of products, sand dust can cause problems such as heat dissipation resistance, poor conductivity of electrical contacts, and wear of moving parts. The sand and dust test equipment is used to test the protection ability of the product to such environments, and is divided into four types: natural settling type, jet type, floating type and mobile type according to the swimming state of sand and dust, which is suitable for different test needs.

Sand and dust natural settling test equipment

Meets IEC dust test L6 standard for testing products with low protection requirements in indoor rooms that are affected by low concentrations of dust settling. The studio needs to meet the requirements of ">2m in length and volume >8m³ on each side", with intermittent sand and dust blowing (0.05g/m³ each time), and the entrance above 4/5 height of the side wall. The blower blows for 1 minute per hour and stops for 59 minutes at a wind speed of 2m/s, without temperature and humidity control, with a simple structure and low cost.

Sand and dust jet test equipment

Focusing on high-intensity sand and dust environments, it focuses on high-end product testing such as aviation equipment to assess its erosion resistance under high-density sand and dust and high-speed airflow. The sand and dust is sprayed onto the surface of the specimen through high-speed airflow, simulating the impact of sand and dust in flight, and testing the anti-wear and anti-intrusion performance of the shell and key components.

Sand and dust floating test equipment

Separated sealing type and circulation type, widely used. The sealed type blows sand and dust in the sealing studio, and is stirred by the blower to keep it floating, simulating the suspended dust environment. The circulating type complies with the IEC sand test La standard, and uses a circulating ventilator to blow 2kg/m³ of sand (such as talc) in the lower part of the working chamber into a high-density dust mist, and at the same time, the Vacuum Pump pumps to form a pressure difference inside and outside the specimen to assess the tightness of the shell (not for aggressive testing).

Sand and dust flow test equipment

The assessment ability is the most comprehensive, which can produce wear, intrusion, coverage, blockage and certain erosion effects, and is suitable for products with high protection requirements. It is composed of a working studio and an auxiliary device to control the concentration, temperature and humidity and wind speed of sand dust, and the blower blows the sand and dust into the set wind speed to create a desert storm environment and test the anti-interference ability of the product from all sides.

Rain test equipment

Rainfall is a common exposure environment for products outdoors and in transportation, and rain test equipment is used to test the rainproof and splashproof ability of the product shell.

Fixed rain test equipment

Focusing on stability and standardization, the skeleton is made of angle steel or wood, and the three sides of the studio and the door are glass plates for easy observation. The angle of the shower head (diameter about 100mm, more than 100 0.4~0.5mm sprinkler holes) can be fixed or adjustable. Adjust the rainfall by controlling the area ratio of the shower table to the storage tank (e.g. 4:1) and the water standard tube readings (water standard pipe rises 20mm per minute≈ rain shower drops 5mm per minute). During the test, clean water is sprayed on the sample through the shower head, and the water is discharged through the storage tank to form a water cycle.

Movable rain showerer

The core advantage is flexibility, the shower head is taken over with bellows to adjust the spray angle, the water pressure gauge, the inlet valve controls the amount of spray, and the baffle and screw control the spray range. The distance between the specimen and the shower head can be adjusted arbitrarily, but there is no complete complete system, and it needs to be cooperated with auxiliary devices, which is suitable for flexible testing of a small number of specimens in the product development stage, and is not suitable for large-scale batch testing.

summary

The sand dust and rain test equipment is the core of the protection test, simulating the sand and rainfall environment respectively to provide test support for the reliable operation of the product. The sand and dust equipment covers low-concentration sedimentation to high-concentration erosion scenarios, and the rain shower equipment meets different flexibility needs in the form of fixed and movable. In practical applications, it is necessary to combine product usage scenarios and protection levels, select adaptive equipment and standards, accurately assess protection performance, and help improve product quality.
