Summary of film fog detection

Fog is the diffuse reflection phenomenon of high gloss paint film due to light irradiation, and the gloss must be above the formula (measured by 20° method). If the gloss of the two painted parts is measured by a gloss meter, they are very high and very close, but there is still a difference between the two painted parts with the naked eye. That is, one piece can clearly reflect the image, while the other piece can display the image clearly, but there is still a certain halo surrounding the image. The reason is that the gloss meter can only measure the intensity of reflected light, but the naked eye can not only observe the intensity of reflected light, but also observe the intensity of light scattering by the surface.

The measurement of the haze of the coating film is to increase the receiving hole of the side gloss on the basis of the gloss meter, that is, while measuring the gloss (gloss at a fixed angle), the haze of the coating film (open and close at a fixed angle) is also measured. buoyancy).

The haze performance of the coating film indirectly reflects the dispersion, wetting and flocculation of the pigment in the coating and the surface condition of the substrate.

Haze was measured using a haze gloss meter. The haze value can reach up to 1000, but the haze value below 250 is enough when evaluating the coating, so the measurement range of the haze meter is generally 0~250. The haze value of paint products is below 20. If the haze value is too high, it will seriously affect the appearance quality of high-gloss coatings, especially for light-colored paints. Figure 8-24 is a desktop haze gloss meter, which can simultaneously measure the three-angle gloss and haze at 20°, 60°, and 85°.
