4.2 How to use the protective cover
The protective sleeve is mainly used to protect the tip of the Hardness Tester pressure needle from impact in a non-working state, before using the Hardness Tester to measure, the protective sleeve should be removed from the Hardness Tester first, and the protective sleeve can be removed by holding the protective sleeve with your hand and pulling it out vigorously along the sleeve of the measuring device. After the end of the measurement work, it is necessary to put on the protective sleeve in time, put the protective sleeve on the sleeve of the measuring device and push it upwards until it is clamped with the main housing body, and then the protective sleeve can be installed in place (see Figure 3 for details).

4.3 How to use the battery compartment
Insert the tip of your thumb into the opening groove of the battery compartment, and pull it outward with a little force, so that the battery compartment rotates about 90° around the shaft and then open (see Figure 4), and then put in three button batteries, at this time, it should be noted that the polarity of the battery should be correct, and the positive symbol of the battery "+" is consistent with the direction of the "+" symbol marked near the shaft of the battery compartment, and finally the battery compartment is rotated in the opposite direction until it is closed tightly with the main engine shell (see Figure 5).

4.4 How to use the mounting hole cover
The mounting hole cover is mainly used to seal the mounting hole at the top of the Hardness Tester, when measuring with a Shore hardness test bench, the piece needs to be removed to expose the thread for installation, at this time, press the thumb belly on the ridge outside the piece, and push down (away from the direction of the display) to remove the piece (see Figure 6). The installation method of the mounting hole cover is similar to that of the removal party (B) 37 method, but in the opposite direction.

4.5 Display Introduction
The display screen is used to display the measurement results and the working status of the Hardness Tester, and the whole display has a total of 5 display areas, see Figure 7 and its parts are as follows:

5. Function settings
5.1 Power on
Press the ON/OFF button, the display first shows "0", and after a few seconds, the display value changes to "00.0", at which point the Hardness Tester measurement program starts to work (see Figure 10). When the power is off, press the ON/OFF button again.

5.2 Maximum function
Press the MAX button and the MAX symbol will be displayed on the screen (see Figure 11). The hardness value displayed after the measurement in this state is the maximum value during the measurement (the Hardness Tester has the function of automatically latching the peak value), if you want to cancel this function, you can simply press the MAX button again, and the MAX symbol will disappear.
In this function (if the average value calculation function is not set), before the next measurement, you need to press the MAX button to clear to zero (the MAX symbol disappears), and then press the MAX button again to measure.

5.3 Average value function and measurement number function setting
Press the N/AVE key (when the maximum function is not set), "00.0" disappears on the screen and the screen is displayed at the same time
The screen displays the AVE symbol, and the lower right corner of the screen displays the number of measurements (the number of measurements set by the previous measurement is displayed at this place before the specific number of times is set, and the number of measurements set by the previous time is assumed to be 7 in the figure), see Figure 12, and the number of measurements should be set immediately at this time, and the setting method is described in Article (1) below, assuming that the number of measurements set is 3, the display situation at this time is shown in Figure 13. After a few seconds of setting the number of measurements, the hardness value display area returns to "00.0" and the number of measurements also changes to "0", as shown in Figure 14, indicating this function
The setup is successful and measurements can be taken. If you want to cancel this function, just press the N/AVE key again, and the AVE symbol and the number of measurements value will disappear.

(1) How to set the number of measurements:
In Figure 12, continue to press the N/AVE button to set the number of measurements, the maximum number of measurements is 9, and the setting can be cycled in the range of 0~9. There are two ways to set it up:
Method 1: Press the N/AVE button and do not move, and the value of the number of measurements will change cyclically in the range of 0~9 to achieve the desired amountWhen finding the set number of measurements, release the N/AVE button immediately, and the measurement number is set;
Method 2: Press the N/AVE key repeatedly, and with each press, the value of the number of measurements increases once, and the value is increasedCyclic change in the range of 0~9 until the number of measurements set by the requirement is reachedThe number of times is set
A few seconds after the number of measurements is set, the machine goes into the test state (see Figure 14).
(2) Average value calculation method:
When the number of measurements is set to 3~9, the Hardness Tester displays the hardness value and the number of tests at the same time after each test, and when the set number of tests is reached, the gross error is automatically deleted, and the arithmetic mean value of this group of measurements after the gross error is deleted, if the error is too large, "E" is displayed. (See Figure 15). When the number of measurements is set to 2, the Hardness Tester is last straightThe arithmetic mean of the data from the two tests is displayed; When the number of measurements is set to 1, the Hardness Tester displays only the measured value of that time.
After about 8 seconds of average value display, the Hardness Tester will automatically clear to zero, and the original measurement setting will be restored, and the original measurement number setting will still be valid.
The user can also manually record the data of several measurements and calculate the arithmetic mean by hand.
The average value is calculated into two types: the average of the maximum value and the average of the random value. When calculating the maximum average, the maximum function and the average value function should be set at the same time, so that the screen displays MAX and AVE at the same time (see Figure 16), and the setting method is the same as the previous one, and there is no requirement for the order in which they are set. When averaging random values, only the averaging function is set, and only AVE is displayed on the screen (see Figure 14).

5.4 Automatic shutdown function:
If the Hardness Tester is in standby mode for 3 minutes, the Hardness Tester will automatically shut down after the display flashes for 15 seconds.
6. Measurement method
6.1 Preparation before measurement
Specimen preparation: The specimen used for measurement should be uniform in thickness, smooth on the surface, free of bubbles, free of mechanical damage and impurities, etc.
Hardness Tester preparation: Remove the protective case, install the battery or plug in an external power supply.
6.2 Hardness Tester calibration
(1) Zero point calibration: After the machine is turned on, the Hardness Tester is in working state, the pressure pin has the largest extension length at this time, and the hardness value of the screen should display zero.
(2) Non-zero calibration:
The bottom of the Hardness Tester is in full contact with the flat glass plate, so that the length of the pressure pin extension is zero, and the screen hardness value should be displayed at 100 (see Figure 17).
Note: In order to protect the conical tip of the Hardness Tester needle during calibration, the strong contact and impact between the needle tip and the glass plate should be strictly avoided, otherwise the Hardness Tester needle will be damaged and the Hardness Tester will not be normalJob.
6.3 Methods of Operation
(1) Manual measurement:
Place the specimen on a solid flat surface, hold the Hardness Tester in hand, keep the pressure foot parallel to the surface of the sample, and smoothly press the pressure pin perpendicular to the test sample, without any vibration, when the bottom surface of the Hardness Tester is just the same as the surface of the sampleWhen the contact is fully stable, the reading is taken within 1 second, at which point the hardness value of the specimen is displayed on the Hardness Tester screen.
(2) Shore hardness test bench measurement:
Before using the Shore hardness test bench for measurement, the Hardness Tester and the Shore hardness test bench should be installed together, and after installation (Fig. 18), 5kg weight 5 is installed on the top of the weight fixing rod 6 through its middle round holeend, put the sample 3 on the workbench 2, loosen the locking handwheel 10, adjust the height between the Hardness Tester 4 and the sample 3 by lifting the sliding arm 9, keep an appropriate distance between the tip of the pressure needle and the surface of the sample (can not touch), tighten the locking handwheel 10 again, and fix the sliding arm 9 and the column 8 together. Then the handle 7 is depressed, at this moment, the sample 3 moves upwards together with the workbench 2, until the pressure foot of the Hardness Tester 4 contacts with the surface of the sample 3, and when the weight 5 is slightly lifted, when the sample is slowly and completely subjected to the load of 5kg, it is read within 1 second, and the display value of the Hardness Tester screen is the hardness value of the sample at this moment.
6.4 Communication with Computers
This Hardness Tester can communicate with a computer, the baud rate is 9600, and the data is transmitted in text data formatIN ORDER TO USE GENERAL COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE (SUCH AS WINDOWS HYPERTERMINAL) TO RECEIVE, AT THIS TIME IT MUST BE CONNECTED WITH RS232 COMMUNICATION CABLE (SEE FIGURE 9), AND SEND WITH THE TEST, ONLY SEND BUT NOT RECEIVE. WHEN USING HYPERTERMINAL FOR WINDOWS, PERFORM THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
(1) Connect the nine-core end of the RS232 communication cable with the computer serial port, and insert the other end into the Hardness Tester for communicationinterface (serial socket), see Figure 9, and turn on the power supply of the Hardness Tester;
(2) IN WINDOWS, PRESS "START→", "PROGRAM", → "ACCESSORIES" → "COMMUNICATION" STEPS TO OPEN ULTRAlevel terminals;
(3) Run HyperTerminal Hypertrm, type a file name in the name of the new connection, and press confirm;
(4) Select the serial port connected by the communication cable, select the baud rate 9600 in the port settings, and press confirm.At this time, the test value of the Hardness Tester in the measured state should be displayed on the screen;
(5) If you want to save the test results, select "Disconnect" under the "Dial-in" menu of HyperTerminal, select "Save As" under the "File" menu, and type the file name.
7. Precautions
1. The pressure needle of the Hardness Tester is a conical tip, and in order to protect the needle tip, it is required to strictly avoid the strength of the pressure needle and the glass plate
force contact, otherwise it is easy to damage the tip of the Hardness Tester needle, and the instrument cannot be used normally.
2. The Hardness Tester should be strictly protected from falling, and a protective cover should be worn when not in use to protect the exposed end of the pressure needle. 3. When the Hardness Tester shows the undervoltage symbol BATT (see Figure 7), replace the battery in time and pay attention to the batteryPolarity (see Figure 4).
4. When not using the Shore hardness test bench for measurement, the Hardness Tester should be covered with a hole cover (see Figure 6),to prevent dust from entering the inside of the instrument.
8. Maintenance and repair
1. Maintenance
The Hardness Tester should avoid impact and heavy pressure, and should not be placed in a strong magnetic field, humid or oily environment;
If the Hardness Tester is not used for a long time, the three button batteries should be taken out and properly kept;
When the Hardness Tester is not in use, it should be put into the packing box;
