Scope and description of Tu-4 cup viscometer
This method specifies the method for determining the viscosity of paints using a Tu-4 cup viscometer. Tu-4 cup viscometer is suitable for measuring the paint whose outflow time is less than 150s. This method is also applicable to the determination of semi-finished coatings and other related products with similar viscosities.
The viscosity measured by the Tu-4 cup viscometer is the conditional viscosity, which is the time for a certain amount of sample to flow out of the specified hole at a certain temperature, expressed in seconds (s).
Instruments and Materials
(1) Tu-4 Cup Viscometer
(2) Thermometer The temperature range is 0~50°C, and the division is 0.1°C, 0.5°C.
(3) The stopwatch is divided into 0.2s.
(3) Receiving cup 150mL enamel cup.
Determination method of Tu-4 cup viscometer
(1) Before and after measurement, wipe the viscometer with gauze dipped in solvent, and dry it or blow it dry with cold wind. Light inspection, viscometer leak nozzle, etc. should be kept clean.
(2) Stir the sample evenly, and adjust the temperature of the sample to (23±1)°C or (25±1)°C.
(3) Adjust the viscometer to a horizontal state, and place a 150mL enamel cup under the leak of the viscometer.
(4) Block the leak with your finger, fill the viscometer with the sample at the temperature of (23±1)°C or (25±1)°C, scrape the air bubbles and excess sample into the coating with a glass rod or glass plate. -4 cups in the groove. Quickly remove the finger, start the stopwatch at the same time, and stop the stopwatch immediately when the sample stream is just interrupted. The stopwatch reading is the outflow time (s) of the sample.
4. The results of Tu-4 cup viscometer measurement
Take the average value of two measurements as the measurement result. The difference between the two measured values should not be greater than 3% of the average value.
Use the following formula to convert the outflow time seconds (s) of the Tu-4 viscometer sample into kinematic viscosity centistokes (mm2/s).
