Since the mid-1960s, the rapid rise of ion-selective electrodes has brought new attention to the potential analysis method for measuring solution ion concentration and activity. There are more than 2 kinds of commercial electrodes, and they have been widely used in many fields. Various Ion Meters (including general and special ones) matched with ion electrodes have also been continuously developed. This paper briefly introduces the main technical characteristics and inspection methods of the general Ion Meter.
In principle, the Ion Meter is a millivolt meter used to measure the electromotive force of ion selective electrodes and reference electrodes. According to the characteristics of the ion electrode, the basic requirements for the Ion Meter are:
1) Metering characteristics: high input impedance, low input current, high stability, low drift; high accuracy, low indication error are required.
2) Adjustment characteristics: positioning (calibration) adjustment, valence and polarity adjustment, slope adjustment, equipotential adjustment, temperature compensation adjustment, etc. are required.
3) Reading characteristics: Terminal equipment such as millivolts, ion activity (Px or P"), ion concentration (Pm or M) reading display, recording, and printing are required. The following are the main technical characteristics of the Ion Meter. discuss.
