Application of computer color scheme in Solid Color Coating

This article briefly introduces the concept of the hardware and software system in the computerized color matching system, elaborates in detail the process of establishing a color matching database for the atacolor computerized color matching system, and the factors that affect the color accuracy of the computerized color matching system in solid color coatings.

foreword

The emergence of computer color matching system provides effective support for color formula workers to carry out a large number of color formula design work. In order to meet the needs of production and color formula design and development, our company introduced a computerized color matching system from Datacolor in 2003. After practical application and exploration, good results have been achieved.

From the perspective of a user of a computerized color matching system, this article summarizes the process of establishing a color matching database with the Datacolor computerized color matching system and the factors that affect the color accuracy of the computerized color matching system in solid-color coatings.

Datacolor's color matching system is favored by many users at home and abroad for its ease of use, user-friendly software, high color matching accuracy, and easy basic database establishment.

Datacolor computer color matching system mainly includes hardware and software. Hardware includes DatacolorDF110 Spectrophotometer , computer host, monitor, printer IDatacolorDaatamatchpaint paint, ink Computer color matching software main interface includes: color material group maintenance, color matching/color correction, basic data conversion, instrument calibration, color measurement, color sample data conversion, Change color sample name, delete data, ASCII data input and output, backup data, database, color sample conversion, set user, instrument test.

System functions include instrument calibration, color file storage, color matching database establishment and maintenance, color matching, formula correction, etc.

1.1 Compatibility (color acceptance) test of base paint (or white paint) and color paste

Paint preparation: add 3g of color paste to 100g of white paint (A paint or B paint), and mix on the mixer for 5 minutes.

Add 6g of white paste to 100g of varnish (i.e. C-based paint), then add 3g of color paste, and mix on the mixer for 5 minutes.

Plate making: After standing for 2 hours to defoam, scrape a 250mm coating film on the white coated paper, and perform a finger rub test when the paint film is close to surface dry.

Test: Test the color difference between the paint films with the change of shear force. By testing whether the color paste is flocculated in the paint (flocculation will lead to poor color transfer of the color paste), if there is flocculation, the flocculation of the color paste will be broken after being sheared, and the color of the part of the paint film with shear force will change. deep.

The test results are shown in Table 1. All paint samples and color paste compatibility tests have passed, meeting the compatibility requirements of the color matching system for base paint and color paste. Table 1 sample finger research color difference

In Table 1, paint A is a white paint with high titanium dioxide content. Titanium dioxide accounts for about 20% (mass fraction) of the total formula content. It is mainly used to adjust some relatively light colors. The hiding power after toning is mainly determined by White paint is provided. B paint is a kind of white paint with medium titanium dioxide content. Titanium dioxide accounts for about 10% (mass fraction) of the total formula content. It is mainly used to adjust some medium-depth colors. The lacquer is provided together with the color paste added; C paint (varnish) is a transparent varnish without titanium dioxide, which is mainly used to adjust some dark colors. If necessary, some white paste will be added to the color. The hiding power is provided by the added white paste and other colorants, and the varnish itself has no covering ability.
