Viscosity of paint

The viscosity of a paint is the ratio of the shear force to the shear strain rate.

Determination of viscosity

*National standard GB/T 1723-93TU-1, TU-4 Viscosity Cup and falling ball viscometer

Influencing Factors of Coating Viscosity

*The composition of the paint, the type of additives, the higher the resin content, the greater the viscosity

*The relative molecular weight and distribution of the polymer chain of the film-forming material The higher the relative molecular weight, the greater the viscosity: the better the flexibility of the molecular chain, the greater the non-Newtonian property of the coating, that is, the greater the dependence of viscosity on shear force.

*Fineness of pigments and fillers The higher the fineness of pigments and fillers, the better the dispersion and the higher the viscosity

*Solvent Solubility The better the solubility, the greater the viscosity, the higher the density of the formed film and the more uniform the structure.

*Construction temperature The higher the construction temperature, the lower the viscosity and the better the bonding performance with the base material.
