Printing ink dry inspection method - natural conjunctiva method

1. Inspection principle

This method is also suitable for inks that are mainly oxidative conjunctival drying. The principle is to make the ink surface of a certain thickness into a solid film, which is the dryness of the conjunctiva, expressed in hours.

2. Tools and materials

(1) Standard scraping paper;

(2) Ink adjusting knife;

(3) pins;

(4) glass plate;

(5) Squeegee;

(6) Scissors.

3. Inspection method

(1) Cut out a 20X20 mm square hole in the center of a small piece of scraping paper and place it on a glass plate.

(2) Use an ink-adjusting knife to take an appropriate amount of ink that has been mixed thoroughly and scrape it off on the sample paper, and scrape it off from top to bottom with a scraper.

(3) Remove the scraping paper and leave a thin layer of the tested ink with a certain thickness at the square hole.

(4) Keep the room temperature at 25±1°C and the relative humidity at 60~70%. Use a pin to move the ink layer regularly, and record the shortest time for the ink surface to become solid, which is called the conjunctival time of the tested ink, expressed in hours.

4. Precautions

(1) When scraping the ink through the square hole of the paper with a squeegee, use appropriate force, and it should not be too large or too small to avoid inconsistent thickness.

(2) Observe carefully when touching the ink surface with the tip of a pin, and do not move it in the same place next time after touching it in one place.

(3) This test is carried out under constant temperature and humidity conditions.
