6. Procedures

6.1. In the analysis work, cleaning the glass instrument is a preparatory work before the experiment that needs to be done, and it is also a technical work. Whether the instrument washing meets the requirements will affect the accuracy .

6.2. General procedure for washing the instrument

6.2.1. For new glass instruments, first soak them in water or clean them with a brush and detergent. After drying, soak them in lotion for several hours before washing them.

6.2.2. After finishing the experiment, the laboratory technician pours out the solution remaining in the glass instrument used, washes it with water, and puts it on the mobile cart marked with the words "glass instrument to be cleaned". Note that if the main component is non- For water-soluble substances or substances that are difficult to dissolve in water, the used glass instruments should be placed on the lower layer of the above-mentioned mobile vehicle, and the words "need to be cleaned with lotion" should be marked on the lower layer of the mobile vehicle.

6.2.3. The laboratory assistant will clean the "glass instruments to be cleaned" on the mobile vehicle at any time.

6.2.4. Bottle washing machine cleaning First, put the glass instrument washed with water into the bottle washing machine, then adjust the required washing time and drying time, take it out after cleaning, let it cool, and put it in the storage room after drying middle.

6.2.5. When the glassware is cleaned and the bottle washing machine is out of use, disconnect the purified water inlet from the bottle washing machine, and use 75% alcohol to disinfect the connecting pipeline every month.

6.2.6. When the cleaned instrument is turned upside down, there should be no drops of water on the inner wall of the container after the water flows out.

6.3. Use of cleaning solution

Preparation method of chromic acid lotion: Dissolve 20g of finely ground potassium dichromate in 40ml of water, slowly add 360ml of concentrated sulfuric acid while stirring .

According to the nature of the instrument stains, for instruments that cannot be effectively cleaned with detergent, generally use chromic acid lotion to soak overnight.

6.4. Drying and storage of glass instruments

6.4.1. After cleaning the glassware, place it upside down on a glassware rack to dry or dry it in an oven. NOTE: Volumetric appliances are not tumble dry.

6.4.2. For instruments with ground plugs, such as volumetric flasks and colorimetric tubes, it is better to tie the plugs and tubes with strings before cleaning, so as not to break the plugs or confuse each other.

6.4.3. The complete set of instruments should be washed immediately after use, dried and stored in a special box.
