A1 Features
The nickel electroplating layer can provide various mechanical properties. The engineering ballast coating mainly utilizes its physical or mechanical properties rather than its appearance. In industry, one or more of the following characteristics are used according to different conditions of use:
a. Strength, toughness and ductility;
b. Abrasion resistance;
c. Performance under load;
d. Corrosion resistance;
e. Thermal oxidation resistance;
f. Scratch resistance.
A2 use
Engineering nickel plating application:
a. Make new artifacts have specific properties;
b. Used to compensate for metal loss due to corrosion, wear or machining of wrong dimensions on the workpiece;
c. As the bottom layer of thick chromium layer (see GB11379).
A3 application examples
A.3.1 Nickel coatings used for anti-corrosion without mechanical processing, the coating thickness is 50~250µm, if used for:
a. Annealing rolls in the glass manufacturing industry;
b. Grain processing equipment.
Common 2 requires a machined nickel coating on new workpieces, or just as a bottom layer of chrome layer, and the coating thickness after finishing
The degree is 125~1000µm, such as for:
a. Compressor rod;
b. Connect the coolant to the outer surface of the cylinder liner.
3. The thickness of the nickel coating to be machined on the worn workpiece, or only as the bottom layer of the grid layer, is 15mm, such as for:
a. The plunger of hydraulic equipment;
b. Commonly used machine parts, such as shafts.

Note: ① These properties of electrodeposited nickel are obtained from the continuously purified electrolytic solution, and the conditions of the electrode data are: current density 5A/ dm2, pH 4.0, temperature 60°C.
②Add hydrogen water to the electrolyte, and as the pH rises above 5.5, the hardness value of the nickel layer rises to Hv. 200 to Hv400, but usually less ductility.
③ When it is necessary to obtain a nickel layer with high hardness (up to Hv600), wear resistance, compressive stress, or leveling, some organic additives can be used in the electrolyte. These additives can make the layer bright, but at the same time may reduce its resistance;
Layers may contain sulfur components or other inclusions, and may adversely affect some of the properties indicated in this standard.
