What is the difference between grease and solid lubricant?

Grease differs from solid lubricants in that:

1) Grease usually exists in a paste or semi-fluid form, which contains at least 60% of liquid lubricants, and various additives, including solid lubricants (or fillers), can be added.

2) Solid lubricants generally exist in solid form, and a solid film is formed on the friction interface by coating, sputtering, ion plating and other technologies, or the necessary lubrication is provided by plating and embedding. Generally, when the friction pair is under special harsh working conditions such as extremely high temperature, extremely low temperature, high vacuum, and strong radiation, solid lubricants are often used for lubrication.

In addition, in most cases, grease is a satisfactory carrier for solid lubricants, and solid lubricants are often used as additives for greases, so that the advantages of both greases and solid lubricants can be fully utilized.
