What is Heat Resistant Coatings? Overview of High Temperature Coatings

1. Overview of heat-resistant coatings

Heat-resistant coatings, also known as high-temperature-resistant coatings, are functional coatings that can withstand temperatures above 200°C for a long time, while the coating film is intact , can maintain certain physical and chemical properties of the coating, and can play a protective role. Heat-resistant coatings are divided into organic coatings, inorganic coatings and organic-inorganic heat-resistant coatings. Organic heat-resistant coatings are further divided into elemental organic heat-resistant coatings and aromatic ring and aromatic heterocyclic polymer heat-resistant coatings.

Heat-resistant coatings are widely used in high-power lamps, ovens, engine casings, chimneys, exhaust pipes, high-temperature furnaces, petroleum cracking furnaces, launch tubes of various thermal weapons, and protection of aircraft, missiles and aerospace equipment.

2. The base material of heat-resistant coating

There are three types of base materials for heat-resistant coatings: organic, inorganic, and organic-inorganic.

(1) Organic type: elemental organic resin, such as silicone resin, organic fluorine resin, organic titanium resin aromatic ring and aromatic heterocyclic polymer resin, such as polyamide, polyimide, polyesterimide, Polyurea , polysulfone, polyphenylene sulfide, polybenzimidazole, polyarylsulfone, polyethersulfone, polyparaphenylene.

(2) Inorganic type: alkaline metal silicate, silica sol, acidic metal phosphate, dichromate phosphate , enamel.

(3) Organic-inorganic type: alkyl silicates, alkyl titanates.
