Grease paint - Wooden furniture coatings

Grease paint, also known as oily paint, oil-based paint. It is a kind of paint that can be oxidized and dried in the air, and has a long history of use in our country.

The main advantages of grease paint are convenient coating, good permeability, low price, and certain decorative protection. However, grease paint dries slowly, is soft and difficult to polish, and is only suitable for surface finishing of wood products with low requirements.

The grease paint used for wooden furniture is mainly clear oil, also known as cooked oil, which is a kind of dry vegetable oil such as tung oil, linseed oil and catalpa oil. Cobalt naphthenate, lead naphthenate, manganese naphthenate and other driers are made. The clear oil is characterized by low price, convenient construction and low odor.

Clear oil is usually only used to prepare oily putty in the surface finishing process of wooden furniture, and is generally not used as . This is mainly due to the slow drying and low hardness of clear oil. The following points should be paid attention to during construction.

(1) When applying and scraping oily putty, the oil, dust, rust and other impurities on the wood surface that affect the adhesion of the clear oil to the wood surface should be removed.

(2) The oily varnish or oily putty made of varnish has poor solvent resistance, so the surface of varnish or oily putty made of this kind of varnish generally cannot be painted with high-performance surface coatings containing strong solvents, otherwise it is easy to produce bottoming phenomenon.

(3) The oily putty prepared by clear oil, gypsum powder and water is applied by scraping method. If multiple scrapings are required, the next operation should be carried out after the previous putty is basically dry, and Oil-based varnishes that do not contain strong solvents should be painted after an interval .
