Film formation material, what is film formation material?

Film formers, also known as base materials or binders, are substances that form the continuous phase of the coating film. It is the main factor that determines the properties of the coating film. During the storage and transportation period of the coating, the film-forming substance should not undergo obvious physical and chemical changes; after coating, the coating should solidify and form a film under specified conditions. The film formers of thermoplastic coatings are polymers before the film is formed. The film formers of thermosetting coatings are oligomers, which form polymer films after cross-linking. Film formers are generally composed of natural oils, natural resins, synthetic resins and inorganic substances. Modern coatings sometimes use a single type of resin as a film-former, sometimes use different resins to modify and complement each other, and sometimes use organic resins and inorganic substances to form a film-former.
