The protection of the ship in the harsh marine environment is very important. It is directly related to the service life of the ship and the safety of navigation. In recent years, it has been paid more and more attention by various relevant departments. There are two main ways to protect ships, namely coating protection and cathodic protection.
1. Coating protection
Use appropriate marine coatings and correct process technology to cover all parts of the ship to form a complete and dense coating to isolate the steel surface of each part of the ship from the external corrosive environment to prevent corrosion of the ship Measures, called the ship's coating protection.
Coating protection is a widely used, long-established, most economical, convenient and effective protection method for ships.
The rationality, scientificity, effectiveness, and economy of ship coating protection are extremely important, and the key lies in: reasonable coating matching system; correct construction technology; scientific management methods.
2. Cathodic protection
For the part of the ship that is in direct contact with seawater, a metal or alloy that is more negative than the electrode potential of the steel is electrically connected to the steel hull to make it a cathode as a whole; The direct current generated in the opposite direction of corrosion current can also make it a cathode as a whole and be polarized, so that the steel hull can be protected from corrosion, that is, it can be protected. Such protection measures are called cathodic protection of ships. .
For cathodic protection of ships, there are mainly two types of sacrificial anode protection and impressed current protection. The cathodic protection of the ship is usually used for the hull plate and ballast Water Tank, which is a joint protection combined with coating protection.
