Epoxy resin coating has strong adhesion; good physical and mechanical properties, such as hardness and flexibility; outstanding wear resistance, among which solvent-free epoxy paint is better; excellent alkali resistance, excellent chemical resistance, Solvent resistance, amine cured coating is very good; long-term high temperature resistance up to 120 ℃ in a dry environment.
Epoxy coatings adhere fairly well to substrates and have excellent adhesion to metal, concrete, wood and even glass. The shrinkage rate of epoxy resin is very small, and the volume shrinks only about 2% when curing, and the phenolic bond makes the molecular chain soft and easy to rotate, which can eliminate internal stress.
The curing of epoxy coatings has a great dependence on temperature. Generally, the curing is slow below 10°C, and very slow below 5°C, which can almost be considered to stop. Complete curing takes 7 days at 23°C , so a special low temperature curing agent should be used at low temperatures.
Epoxy resin coatings are prone to loss of gloss and chalking under the sun's ultraviolet radiation, so they are not suitable for outdoor decorative topcoats, and are only suitable for indoor environments.
