Puttying considerations

(1) The surface to be coated needs to be completely dry before scraping to prevent bubbles or cracks. If the surface to be coated is too smooth, it can be polished with sandpaper first to make the putty and the bottom surface well bonded.

(2) It should be leveled in one or two back and forth, the technique should be fast and steady, and it should not be dragged back and forth. Too many times of dragging and scraping, the putty is easy to fluff, the surface is uneven and not bright, and the paint in the putty will be squeezed to the surface, causing the surface to dry and the inside to not dry, affecting performance.

(3) Squeeze and fill the gaps of holes with the putty with the tip of a scraper, but it is not advisable to scrape too much and too thick at one time to prevent it from drying out.

(4) When scraping, the residual putty around the surface should be scraped off in time, otherwise the residual putty lumps will be left on the surface, which will increase the workload of polishing after drying.

(5) If the layer of putty to be scraped is relatively thick, when multi-layer scraping is required, each layer of putty should be fully dried, and each layer of putty should not be too thick, generally controlled below 0.5mm, otherwise it will easily shrink and crack through.

(6) It is not advisable to add too much water to the self-prepared tung oil thick lacquer gypsum putty, and add too little cooked tung oil to prevent the putty from becoming powdery, and it is easy to foam and crack and fall off after scraping.

(7) After the putty scraping tool is used up, it should be cleaned before storage. The scraper edge and plane should be flat without gaps to ensure the quality of putty scraping.

(8) In summer, the weather is hot and the temperature is high, so the putty is easy to dry. The finished putty can be covered with a thinner, and the self-prepared gypsum putty can be covered with a damp cloth or wet paper. Put it in a warm place in winter to prevent freezing. You can add some varnish and solvent when using it, but it should not be left for a long time.

(9) The putty should not be stored in an open container for a long time, so as to avoid the deterioration of the adhesive and the volatilization of the solvent, causing problems such as sticking, falling off or not easy to be scratched.
