【Abstract】Microscopic mixing is the mixing at the molecular scale of fluid, which has an important influence on the chemical reaction. In order to study the progress of micro-mixing in a magnetic stirrer commonly used in chemical reactions, the parallel-competing reaction of iodide-iodate system was used to study the micro-mixing in it. The segregation index was calculated by measuring the absorbance of the solution, and the microscopic mixing under different conditions was analyzed. The study found that increasing the motor speed of magnetic stirring is beneficial to the micro-mixing, and the increase of the viscosity is not conducive to the micro-mixing. Micromixing is better with additions in the center of the beaker than with additions away from the center. At the same molar flow rate of the feed, the lower concentration of the feed facilitates microscopic mixing. The study yielded favorable conditions for micro-mixing in the reactor.
