Advantages of using Apiezon sealing wax W as an etch resistant material

Apiezon Wax W and Etch Resist

Apiezon Wax W is a desirable etch resistant material. Apiezon Wax W is perhaps the most widely used etch resistant material in the electronics industry for semiconductors and printed circuit boards.

The wide operating temperature range and low vapor pressure of Apiezon Wax W Series means that it has an excellent track record in many different applications and it is the most versatile product in the Apiezon Wax range.

very good etch resistance

Apiezon Wax W, also known as "Black Wax", is a wax that works well in various etchants (including potassium hydroxide, tetramethylammonium hydroxide, EDP, hydrogen fluoride, nitric acid, sodium hydroxide, acetic acid) Resistant to etchant-resistant materials up to 75°C. Even so, it can still be easily removed with hydrocarbon solvents.

The strong 'adsorption' properties of Wax W mean that if a solvent is used in isolation during the post-etch cleaning stage, impurities that may remain on the surface will also be removed along with the wax.

Additionally, the hydrocarbon formulation and very 'clean' melt properties of the wax ensure that unwanted etch contaminants are not introduced into the system.

Advantages of Using Apiezon Wax W as Etch Resistant Material

  • Resistant to etchant

  • very good vapor pressure characteristics

  • High purity combined with strong 'adsorption' and clean melting properties

  • good waterproof medium

  • easy to use and clean up

  • 10 year shelf life
