How to correctly install, use and maintain electronic balances, and obtain correct weighing results is one of the effective methods to ensure product quality.
During the on-site verification of electronic balances, it was found that the electronic balances used by many companies were basically not installed, used and maintained according to the requirements, which resulted in relatively large deviations in measurement data, exceeding the maximum allowable error required by the verification regulations. In order to enable the staff engaged in the use of electronic balances to obtain accurate weighing results and prolong the service life of the balance, the problems that need attention in the correct installation, use and maintenance of electronic balances are analyzed as follows:
1. Environmental requirements for electronic balance installation room
(1) The laboratory should avoid direct sunlight, it is better to choose a shaded room or use shading methods.
(2) The balance should be far away from the source of vibration, such as railways, highways, vibrating machines and other vibrating machines. If it is unavoidable, anti-vibration measures should be taken.
2. Cleaning Requirements Before Installing Electronic Balances
(1) First, use a brush or buckskin to remove floating dirt and the like.
(2) The weighing room or the place near the magnetic steel should be dusted with damp silk cloth, so as not to let dust and dirt fall into the magnetic steel, which may cause electronic balance failure.
(3) Wipe the electronic balance and parts clean with a damp flannelette (solvent should not be used).
(4) Wipe the electronic balance and its parts with a clean buckskin or silk cloth to ensure that the balance is clean.
3. Main steps in installing electronic balance
(1) Choose a qualified installation room and have a qualified and stable installation platform.
(2) Remove the outer packaging of the electronic balance, such as a wooden box or carton, and store the outer packaging and shockproof items for reuse.
(3) Check whether the electronic balance host and parts are complete, and whether the appearance is good.
(4) Dust and clean the balance host and parts.
(5) Install the main engine of the electronic balance, and adjust the balance to a horizontal state by adjusting the leveling feet at the bottom of the balance (you can observe the leveling device in the weighing room of the balance).
(6) Install the moving parts such as the weighing ring and weighing pan of the balance in place, and some weighing pans need to be rotated to fix them.
(7) Loosen the stop devices such as transport fixing screws or keys (some electronic balances do not have this device).
(8) Adjust the external power supply selection button of the electronic balance to the local power supply voltage level.
(9) Insert the external power supply and plug into the external power socket, and turn on the power switch of the electronic balance to observe whether the display of the balance is normal. If the display is normal, preheat according to the requirements of the manual.
4. Precautions before operation of electronic balance
(1) The voltage file selected by the electronic balance should match the voltage of the external power supply at the place of use.
(2) The electronic balance should be in a horizontal state.
(3) The electronic balance should be preheated according to the requirements of the manual.
(4) When weighing volatile and corrosive items, they need to be placed in airtight containers to avoid corrosion and damage to the electronic balance.
(5) The temperature and humidity in the balance room should be constant, the temperature should be 20"C, and the humidity should be around 50%.
(6) Calibrate the electronic balance to make it in good condition.
5. The main steps to operate the electronic balance
(1) Turn on the power and preheat the balance to be in a standby state.
(2) Turn on the balance switch (press the joystick or switch key) to make the balance at zero, otherwise press the Tare key.
(3) Put the container on, read the value and record it, and press the tare key to reset to zero, so that the balance will display zero again.
(4) Add the sample into the container until the required weight is displayed, record the reading, if there is a printer, press the print button to complete.
(5) Take out the container together with the sample.
(6) When the electronic balance is not used for a long time, the electronic balance should be powered off and stored.
