Building Efficiency Monitoring U12-011/UX100-003/UX100-011

Today, more and more homeowners recognize the importance of incorporating sustainable practices and procedures into their new and existing buildings. Darren Goody, Senior Consultant with Green Building Services, Inc. (GBS) has performed building commissioning, system commissioning and energy audits for 16 years. Recently, he shared with us his experience and expertise on how data loggers play an important role in the green building industry.

Can you briefly describe the focus of GBS?
Our focus includes a wide range of green building services, from design consultancy and technical services to institutional audits. GBS is comprised of architects, engineers and others who help clients incorporate sustainable materials and practices into every aspect of building life from building to existing buildings to make it better.
What challenges does your customer face and why is monitoring environmental conditions important?
It depends on the application. For example, we will be in and monitor the indoor temperature conditions in a warehouse to ensure that the temperature is consistent to maintain the integrity of a company's products.
Another challenge facing homeowners is meeting consistent temperature conditions for IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) and documenting how this is achieved. By monitoring and recording various parameters such as temperature and relative humidity, temperature logger U12-011/UX100-003, UX100-011 helps us to detect data and document indoor air quality conditions.
Office buildings require this because tolerance to temperature changes is not required. By providing improved workplace environmental conditions, owners can improve employee attendance and increase productivity.
Can you describe a project you are currently working on?
Currently, we are working with the federal government on various buildings on a military base. We are helping them achieve more sustainable properties from the materials they use, to the process of constructing their buildings. Essentially, we are helping them eliminate minimal construction waste.
We use data loggers to monitor the energy efficiency of a building's HVAC system and make sure it isn't becoming polluting particles due to the building. This will improve the overall energy consumption and indoor environmental quality of the facility.

How do data loggers fit into the verification and testing of a building's HVAC system? With
the temperature logger U12-011/UX100-003, the UX100-011 confirms that the system is able to maintain temperature control and energy consumption in an efficient manner. They tell us how to operate a system.
We work with our customers to provide energy efficiency measures in the long term pursuit of cost savings, and using the temperature logger U12-011/UX100-003, the UX100-011 is a low cost way to provide us with a lot of cost benefits.
