Onset: Why did you choose HOBO U30-GSM/RX3000(RX3003-00-01) cellular communication model with Ethernet or Wi-Fi?
LC: When I used to run the metering system over a customer's intranet, the IT department would take their network, not knowing what it was, and disconnect it. This happens. Then, when you call the IT department of a school or a hospital, for example, they often don't know what you're referring to. This ultimately means I lose money because you need to report data to get paid.
By happening with the cell, I was able to bypass the corporate intranet, restrictions, and prices that I was using with other systems. Their Onset is responsible for the data storage HOBO Link server, giving me access to the data when I need it.
Onset: What data do you access frequently?
LC: Usually a monthly report, but I do check randomly throughout the month with my iPhone to make sure someone isn't cutting the meter or unplugging it. I only need the actual data once a month. The HOBO Link server also allows clients to see the data if they want. We give them a public link and they don't need to log in. This is useful, for example, if they have a large demand charge for the month and they want to look at it.
Onset: What does the hardware installation process look like?
LC: This is the minimal setting. As long as there is a cell phone signal live location the technician needs to mount on the wall and plug in the battery cable and the nice thing about it working is that it's a plug and play system I don't need to put the pieces together like a cellular modem and a log Recorder.
Onset: Do you offer demand response beyond performance monitoring services?
LC: Yes, we have many projects U30-GSM/RX3000 (RX3003-00-01), we monitor how the building's energy performance verification system is operating for a third party. We get to implement these monitoring efforts, and clients get performance bonuses. For some of these projects, I use stand-alone data logging equipment and put these on site for a month and then pick them up, so I don't need remote communication.
Onset: How many U30-GSM/RX3000(RX3003-00-01) systems do you have deployed in Manhattan?
LC: Of the eight systems we have deployed so far, we may need 20 more. Overall we are satisfied with the product Onset.
