Paint failure is a common phenomenon and it happens on a large scale. A paint job is not a permanent job. 2-3 layers of color coating usually have a thickness of about 40-50mm after drying. The paint eventually comes off the walls and needs to be refreshed after a while. Problems arise when the paint fails within a short period of time. A paint job requires a lot of preparation and its durability depends on all the factors that should be considered before doing a paint job. Common causes of paint failure are as follows.
poor surface treatment
This is a common cause of paint failure. Poor surface preparation results in poor adhesion of paint to the surface. Lack of proper paint adhesion to the surface can lead to early peeling of the paint film.

chalking
Paint chalking is the formation of fine white powdery powders on the surface of the paint film. It occurs due to weathering of the paint. Paint binders degrade slowly due to moisture, which results in easier retention of the binder on the paint pigment.
peeling off
The phenomenon in which a paint film rises in flakes from the underlying surface is called flaking. This occurs due to insufficient adhesion and lack of elasticity. Peeling may also occur due to over-spreading or spreading of the paint.

strong base
When the lime in the wall reacts with carbon dioxide from the air, the alkalinity of the wall increases and it erodes the integrity of the paint film, which results in loss of color.
moisture
Water that collects on the wall surface due to rain or dew penetrates into the paint film, causing discoloration or peeling.
rupture
Lower quality paints lack flexibility and thin coats have poor adhesion. Water-based paint dries too quickly when painted in hot weather conditions. Splitting the dry film by one coat causes the entire painting job to fail.
dirt pickup
Dust particles and dirt often accumulate on lower quality painted surfaces due to air pollution, soil splashes and other physical factors. The build-up of dirt resists the paint properly adhering to the surface. Poor paint adhesion leads to paint failure.
decline
Chalking of the wall surface results in poor color retention. Harsh weather or extreme sunlight can cause fading.

peeled
Due to poor adhesion, the paint coat is easy to peel off. Poor paint adhesion leads to peeling.
