Impact resistance refers to the mechanical resistance of a paint or coating against sudden deformation caused by a predetermined impacting object causing the metal surface to be outward or concave, depending on which side of the test panel is facing upwards. The result is Energy = Mass * Gravity * Height (Ep = m * g * h) in Nm or Joules.
For example according to:
ISO1Kg * 10m/s²* 0.25 m = 2.5 Nm.
ASTM 2 lbs * 10m/s² * 11 inches = 22 inch pounds (2,5Nm).
Convert to ASTM:
1 Joule = 1Nm = 8.8 inch-pounds (see also Table 1).
usage
1. Place the device on a rigid surface with sufficient body, such as the supporting part of a table.
2. Adjust the device to a horizontal position.
3. Check balls, molds and test boards for impurities.
4. Adjust the correct drop height and fix the drop weight on it. Hand-tighten the test panel with the correct side.
5. Release the falling weight and return it to the original position after falling.
6. Release the test panel and judge the result.
TQC tips:
Test results are also strongly dependent on the choice of test panel, the thickness of the coating, the dryness of the coating and the environmental conditions.
In this regard, please refer to ISO 1512-ISI 1514-ISO3270. Bias should always be reported for repeatable test results. Attached pictures and proof of delivery.
