How to Choose Architectural Coatings?

How to choose architectural finishing paint? With picture 1For the decoration of buildings, the most convenient, fast, economical and colorful paint is the use of paint. Reasonable selection of paint for buildings not only has the effect of beautifying the building and improving the function of use, but also has the effect of maintaining the building. When choosing a paint for building surface coating, the following aspects need to be considered:

(1) Objects to be painted

The objects of building painting are not only divided into doors and windows, interior and exterior walls, flat roofs, floors, railings, and other components, but also have different materials such as metal, wood, cement, special stone, and plaster. Different material surfaces should choose different paints. Drying paint cannot be used on buildings, and natural drying paint is required. Metals should be distinguished between colored and black. Iron red antirust paint should be used on the surface of steel, while zinc yellow or silver calcium yellow antirust paint should be used for nonferrous metals. It is not necessary to use anti-rust paint on wood. Alkali-resistant latex paint, perchlorethylene paint, vaporized rubber paint, etc. should be used on the surface of new cement or plaster.

(2) The environment where the painted object is located

Whether the painted object is indoors or outdoors; static or dynamic; new or old. Depending on the temperature and humidity conditions of the environment, as well as contact with other harmful substances, etc., paint varieties should be selected according to different environments. For example, the wall of an ordinary living room is different from the environment of bathrooms and kitchens. , Because the walls of the bathroom are often exposed to moisture, the bathroom needs to be painted with high water resistance. In addition to the requirements for water vapor resistance, the kitchen is also required to be resistant to oil, smoke, and gas pollution, so oil-resistant paint should be selected.

(3) Request of day of painting

Choose paint according to the decoration requirements of the building itself. For example, oil-based paint is usually used for ordinary wooden doors and windows, but if higher decoration is required, nitro paint and polyurethane paint should be used for decoration. Fireproof paint should be used on the surface of building materials in some high-end public places.

(4) Cohesion between coatings

It is necessary to consider the bonding force between the primer and the topcoat, or whether the topcoat can soak and bite the primer. For example, the primer on steel generally uses alkyd antirust primer with strong adhesion; when using nitro varnish on wood, shellac primer should be used as primer to improve the bonding force of the primer.

(5) Cost of painting

It is necessary to consider not only the construction performance of paint products and the durability of decoration, but also the cost of paint coating, and avoid high-quality materials and low-use.
