Are Shore hardness and Shore hardness the same?

Shore hardness and Shore hardness are often confused by users, thinking that the two are the same. However, they are actually different. There is a difference between the two.

1. Shore hardness is different from Shore hardness. The unit of Shore hardness is HS. The common unit in our country is HSD, which refers to the use of D-type impact head for measurement. For example, the commonly used model JMHS-100D, Shore hardness is mainly used for Measure the hardness of metal rolls, motor carbon brushes, graphite materials, marble or stone. The Shore hardness uses a diamond impact head, which is equivalent to a free-falling body impacting the surface of the tested sample, and then the ratio of the bounce height to the drop height is used to calculate the Shore hardness value. The Shore hardness cannot be measured for rubber or plastic materials.

2. Shore hardness units are commonly used with HA, HD, HAO, HOO, and other different scales, among which HA and HD are commonly used to represent two types of Hardness Testers, such as LX-A Shore Hardness Tester and LX-D Shore Hardness Tester is commonly used in two types, mainly clear: Shore Hardness Tester is specially used to measure rubber or plastic, polymer materials, etc., but not to measure metal, graphite, marble and other materials. The measurement principle of the Shore Hardness Tester is: press a steel with a certain shape, and press it vertically into the surface of the sample under the action of the test force. A certain extension length L, the Shore hardness is characterized by the L value, the larger the L value, the lower the Shore hardness, and vice versa.

3. The standards implemented by the two are different. The standards implemented by the Shore Hardness Tester are GB/T 4341.1-2014, GB4977 and JJG346 verification regulations, while the standards implemented by the Shore Hardness Tester are GB/T531.1-2008, GB/T2411 -2008, ASTM D2240, etc.

4. The reason why many people confuse the Shore hardness with the Shore hardness is that the Shore hardness of rubber is generally called Shore hardness in foreign countries, and there are also some standards that measure the Shore hardness of rubber as Shore hardness. The hardness is confused with our domestic Shore hardness.
