The printability of paper indicates the performance of paper that can be printed into good prints. To understand the printability of paper, it is not enough to test various indicators, but also to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the printability of paper through actual printing or simulated printing methods. In actual printing, the printing performance of the paper is evaluated by the phenomenon of hair loss and powder removal, the quality of ink transfer, ink penetration and shadow transmission, etc. A better way to fully evaluate the printability of a paper is to print it on press or to run a test print on a proofer.
In printing, ink is transferred from a printing plate or blanket to paper, and how well the ink transfers is affected by the ability of the paper to accept ink and its smoothness. The ink transferred to the paper then starts to dry, and the drying speed of the ink is affected by the ink absorption properties of the paper, the pH value of the paper and the drying properties of the ink. The indicators to measure the suitability of the printing drama include the uniformity of the oil gourd coverage, the spots mixed in the solid color, the clarity of the dot outline, the contrast between the inked area and the blank area, the finishing degree of the inked area and the blank area, and the solid area and the blank area. Quality indicators such as the uniformity of the dot area, the clarity of printing and adaptation, etc., can comprehensively evaluate the suitability of paper printing.
When printing, better printing effect can be obtained by adjusting the amount of ink on the printing machine for different papers. If batches of paper are different, it will bring difficulties to the adjustment of the printing machine. When the paper difference is too large, you have to stop to adjust the printing conditions, such as increasing or decreasing the thickness of the lining to adapt to the change of paper thickness, etc. Otherwise, the embossing force will not hook the surface due to the change of the thickness of the paper, resulting in waste products. Similarly, the absorbency, ink acceptance, air permeability, smoothness and other properties of paper are also required to be the same. This not only requires that the paper of each batch should be consistent, but also needs to ensure that the performance of each part of the entire paper is consistent,
