Leather physical tests mainly include: tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, composite peel strength, abrasion resistance, folding fastness, color fastness (color also includes dry rub resistance, wet rub resistance, sweat resistance , heat resistance, water resistance, wash resistance, stain resistance, etc.), air permeability, water permeability, dynamic water resistance, softness, horizontal flammability, atomization, odor, etc.
Commonly used relevant leather testing equipment is described as follows:
Leather yellowing resistance Tester
Used to determine the yellowing resistance of materials, substrates, leather, PU, fabrics and other footwear materials in white or light-colored state. It uses solar light bulbs and heating temperature control equipment. The samples were irradiated to test their resistance to yellowing in sunlight.
Leather Softness Tester
It is used to measure the softness of leather and animal skin to know whether the softness and hardness of the same batch of leather are uniform, or the softness of each part of the whole piece of leather is different. Accurate, beautiful, easy to operate and maintain, and portable.
Leather Flex Tester
Used to test the flexibility of thin leather, such as shoe uppers, clothing, leather, bags, etc. The test principle is to use one end of the test piece as the inner side and the other end as the inner side surface as the outer side to be bent against each other. Record the number of times the specimen was bent when it failed. (Note: There are two different methods for this test method: normal temperature and low temperature. The low temperature bending resistance buckling Tester is used for the cold resistance of leather at low temperatures to understand how the material or finished product can adapt to low temperature climates or cold regions.)
TABER Leather Abrasion Tester
Works great on cloth, paper, paint, plywood, leather, floor tiles, glass, natural plastics and more. The test method of the Taber Abrasion Tester is to press the rotating sample on a pair of grinding wheels, then apply the specified load, and rotate the sample. When the abrasive wheel is driven to provide the wear resistance test material, the weight loss due to wear is the weight difference before and after the test.
Electronic Tribometer
Used to test the degree of discoloration of dyed fabrics and leather by rubbing. The test method is to wrap dry or wet white cotton cloth in the friction cone, and then rub the test piece clamped on the test back and forth. Evaluate the color fastness rating. (Note: This test method differs from the Leather Abrasion Tester in that the difference between white cotton cloth and wool felt is used respectively)
Leather dynamic waterproof testing machine
Used to detect leather, artificial leather, cloth and other materials. Test pieces are cut, mounted on testing machines and flexed underwater to measure the penetration resistance index of the material, or in order to develop improved materials as a basis for waterproofing treatments. (There are two options for this testing method: Maeser Penetration Tester GT-KC05 and BALLY Penetration Tester GT-KC06. The standards and testing actions performed by the two machines are different.)
