Fire retardant coatings are also called flame retardant coatings. In addition to the common decorative and protective properties of general coatings, they also have two special properties. One is that the coating itself is non-combustible or flame-retardant, that is, it can prevent being ignited by flames; the other is that it can prevent combustion and have a retarding effect on the expansion of combustion, that is, prevent combustion or inhibit the expansion of combustion within a certain period of time. So that people have sufficient time to carry out fire fighting work.
Fire retardant coatings can be divided into two types according to their fire protection principles, namely intumescent fire retardant coatings and non-intumescent fire retardant coatings. At present, most of the fire retardant coatings produced and used in my country are intumescent fire retardant coatings. When the coating is exposed to fire, it expands and foams, forming a foam-like heat insulation layer between the combustibles and the fire source, sealing the protected substrate, and accompanied by a series of combustion-inhibiting chemical reactions, preventing the substrate from burning .
Several representative products in CHINA are introduced as follows
(1) A6o-1 modified amino intumescent fireproof coating;
(2) A60-501 intumescent fireproof coating, two-component;
(3) A60-01 transparent fireproof coating;
(4) G6o-3 intumescent perchlorethylene fireproof coating;
(5) B60-7o intumescent fire retardant paint is a water-soluble latex fire retardant paint.
This product not only satisfies the fire performance but also has excellent decorative effects, and is the leader among similar products.
Most fire retardant coatings should be applied by brush. Spraying often leads to the formation of large crystals of chemical substances in intumescent coatings, which is not conducive to the smoothness and flame retardancy of the coating, but a few varieties can be sprayed or scraped. Fire-resistant coatings generally require more than 2 to 3 coats to increase the thickness of the coating, which is conducive to improving the fire-resistant ability of the coating.
At present, fireproof coatings are widely used, such as in hotels, shopping malls, ancient buildings, cultural relics protection, vehicles, aircraft, cabin ships, warehouses, packaging, military industry and other aspects.
