Spectrophotometer for plant color measurement

As we all know, plant leaves are the main organs of plants for photosynthesis and nutrient production. By absorbing carbon dioxide, it releases oxygen for humans (release location: stomata), provides food and protects against wind and rain. Leaves can come in a variety of different shapes, sizes, colors and textures. The leaves can be clustered or scattered here and there. The margins of the leaves can be smooth or serrated.

The colors of plant leaves are even more diverse, and there are many reasons for the ever-changing colors of plant leaves. Environment such as soil, temperature, light, etc., others such as pH value, enzymes, leaf epidermal cells, etc. Therefore people hope to be able to observe the color change of plant leaf in different stages and under different environments. The human eye can observe color changes is still very limited, some subtle changes still need us to be able to digitize. Therefore, according to the demand, people have developed an instrument that can observe the color change of plants anytime and anywhere - Spectrophotometer .

Let's take the Spectrophotometer as an example to show you the steps of testing the color of plant leaves:

Step 1: Prepare the plant leaf samples to be tested (leaves grown in different stages) (as shown in Figure 2)

Step 2: After turning on the CS-600 Spectrophotometer , perform black and white calibration (as shown in Figure 3);

Step 3: Because the color of the leaves is uneven, this will make the measurement value inaccurate. Therefore, we need to take the average value of multiple measurements to make the data more accurate.

First, enter the settings before measuring, set the average setting through "UP" and "DOWN" and change the number of measurements to 5 times. (The specific number of times can be selected according to your own reasons, and it is recommended to exceed at least 3 times)

Step 4: After the setting is completed, press the "Cancel" button to exit, then place the sample, and then press the "Test" button, the measurement is completed after the "beep" sound, and the test result is checked;

Step 5: After the standard sample measurement is completed, press the "Menu" button to enter the "Sample Measurement" interface under the standard sample, align the sample with the test hole according to the standard sample measurement method, and press the "Test" button to proceed. After the measurement, the color difference measurement is completed after the "beep" sound, and the measurement result can be obtained.

Through the measurement results, the user can intuitively see the color values of the leaves growing at different stages, and analyze the growth of the plants. Compared with the traditional visual method, the Spectrophotometer has the characteristics of strong objectivity, fast and easy operation, and high repeatability and accuracy. It can help users understand the growth of plants more quickly and effectively.
