Mechanical properties testing of plastic packaging containers

(1) Drop test

For box-type plastic packaging containers, it is necessary to carry out the drop test of the solid box at room temperature and the drop test of the empty box at low temperature, and cracks are not allowed after the drop.

①Drop test in real box at room temperature

Under normal temperature conditions, put the actual contents or simulant into the plastic container, lift it to a certain height, and then freely fall according to the specified number of times. Usually the bottom drop method is used.

②Low temperature empty box drop test

First, place the plastic container sample in an environment of (-10±2)°C for 4 hours, and then drop it freely from a height of 2m, so that the pair of long sides, short sides and their included angles on the bottom of the sample touch the ground in turn, each drop Once, and face drop and corner drop on the bottom of the container. For bottles and barrels, the method of dropping is as follows: first fill the container with water at (20 ± 5) °C, then drop it from a height of 1.2m to the concrete floor with the bottom and sides respectively, without damage or leakage.

(2) Stacking test

① Turnover box stacking test

Put an empty turnover box sample mouth upwards, and then place a loading plate and a weight on it. The total weight of the loading plate and the weight is 2500N, and the loading duration is 72h. After the test, measure the change in height of the loading plate at the midpoint of the two long sides of the mouth of the sample box, and calculate the rate of change in the height of the box. The turnover box stacking test requires that the change rate of the box height shall not be greater than 2%.

The height change rate of the turnover box is:

C=Δh/H×100%

In the formula, C—the rate of change of the height of the cabinet, %;

H——Height of sample box, mm;

Δh ——The height change of the loading plate at the midpoint of the two long sides of the mouth of the sample box, mm.

②Plastic barrel stacking test

First fill the three sample buckets with water of nominal capacity, and then stack them simply overlapping, without support around the container, check after placing it at room temperature for 48 hours, the plastic buckets must not collapse.

③Load-bearing test on the bottom of the turnover box

At room temperature, support each side of the bottom surface of the sample box with a frame assembled with brackets, shelves, steel plates, etc., and then put sand bags at the bottom of the box to make the bottom of the box evenly loaded and start timing. Use a dial indicator to measure the deformation of the bottom of the box when the sample box is loaded for 15 minutes.

④ Turnover box suspension performance test

Under normal temperature conditions, the sample box is evenly loaded with 60kg, and then the sample box is lifted off the ground with a sling, as shown in Figure 4-17. After hanging for 10 minutes, remove the turnover box and check that no cracks are allowed.
