Accurately measure hardness with Shore, Analog, or Analog Durometers.When the indenter is pressed into the material, under specified conditions, the Shore hardness value is determined by the reciprocal of the distance that the indenter can penetrate.

Two commonly used scales for measuring Shore hardness are Shore A and Shore D. They have slightly different measurement configurations, and each scale has a different indenter shape and a different spring load.

  • Type A: According to ASTM D2240, the Shore A indenter is a hardened steel rod with a truncated cone at a 35° angle and is used for testing the hardness of softer materials such as flexible mold rubber and other soft polymers.
