Calibration and use of LX-A Shore Hardness Tester

Calibration method of LX-A Shore Hardness Tester

Calibration and usage of LX-A Shore Hardness Tester with Figure 1

Step 1: Place the calibration block on a solid surface.

Step 2: Align the test head of the Hardness Tester with the hole corresponding to the number "25" of the calibration gauge block , press the Hardness Tester smoothly, and keep it parallel to the calibration gauge block. Hold for 3 seconds , the pointer reading is 25 (±0.5HA), then the calibration is successful.

Step 3: Use the same method as Step 2 to align the test head at the position of the number '75" on the test gauge block. If the reading is 75 (±0.5HA), the calibration is successful.

Instructions

Place the sample on a solid plane, hold the Hardness Tester, press the needle at least 12mm away from the edge of the test block, press the presser foot on the sample smoothly without any vibration, and keep the presser foot parallel to the surface of the sample, Press the needle vertically into the sample. The force applied should be sufficient to make the presser foot and the sample come into close contact, and the reading should be taken at the specified time, 3 seconds for vulcanized rubber or unknown type rubber, and 15 seconds for thermoplastic rubber; if other sample time is used, it should be stated in the test report illustrate. Measure the hardness value 5 times at different positions at least 6mm apart from the sample, and take the average value.
