Why is the paint film chalking and how to prevent it?

Paint film chalking is a kind of ills that occurs after the loss of light. It refers to the phenomenon that a powder layer appears on the surface of the paint film exposed to the atmosphere and falls off. If you touch it with your hands, the powder particles will stick to your hands. This is mainly caused by improper paint formulation, resin is not light fast, and loses cohesive force after aging. Chalking starts on the surface, with little powder removal each time, and the underlying paint film can still remain intact. As the powdering process continues, the entire paint film will be destroyed. The effects of ultraviolet rays, water vapor, oxygen, marine climate, and chemicals are external factors that cause chalking of the paint film. In addition, the paint is too thin, the coating is too thin, the internal paint is used for external use, and the construction quality is poor, which will also cause chalking.

Prevention method: During construction, pay attention to the choice of paint, and use high-quality external-use varieties outdoors, and the paint film must reach a certain thickness; strengthen maintenance, and do not expose to rain and sun before the paint is completely dry.
