The operation method of ELCOMETER 123 surface roughness Tester is as follows:
1. Loosen the knurled ring by turning the jam nut counterclockwise.
2. Put the instrument on the zero adjustment plate, adjust the pointer until the pointer reaches the zero position, and turn the lock nut clockwise to lock the knurled ring.
3. Place the instrument on the surface to be tested, and the spring-mounted probe is used to measure the height from the peak to the trough, and the height value can be read through the dial.
4. To obtain a representative value from peak to trough, at least 10 readings should be taken on a given surface and an average value obtained.
When evaluating results, it should be remembered that the instrument is reading at the maximum peak height.
5. Under normal circumstances, there will be no 0-point drift after the flange ring is locked. If there is a phenomenon of zero drift, it means that the test head is worn out and needs to be replaced.
