The grammage or "basis weight" of paper, paperboard, or tissue is defined as the weight per unit area of a test sample that has been conditioned at the following conditions: temperature (0C) 23 ±1 and relative humidity (% RH ) 50±2. Gram weight is usually expressed in g/m2. From a business point of view, it is an important attribute as it determines the buying criteria for a particular paper product.
