How to properly store NORMANTOOL RCA tape in different environments?

How to store NORMANTOOL RCA paper tape correctly in different environments? Picture 1

NORMANTOOL provides suggestions for correct storage of RCA paper tapes in different environments . In order to help users keep RCA paper tapes properly, the details are as follows:

Recommendations for testing a lab environment:

*The ideal storage environment for paper tapes has a relative humidity of 45%.

*Long-term storage at a relative humidity other than 40 - 50% may result in a "temporary" change in paper abrasion levels and should be considered when analyzing test results.

*Continuous exposure to high relative humidity may result in lower RCA wearer RPMs.

*Continuous exposure to lower relative humidity may result in higher RCA Abraser RPMs.

*If the ambient humidity of paper tape storage is not within the required humidity range, the paper should be returned to the required humidity range according to "Suggestions for changing the paper storage environment".

*Acceptable temperature in the testing laboratory is 15 to 25 degrees Celsius (60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit).

*The tape should be tightly wound when not in use.

Suggestions for changing the tape storage environment:

*When the paper tape is transferred to an environment with a large temperature difference, keep the paper tape in a sealed bag until the temperature of the paper tape reaches the temperature of the new environment. Once the temperature  is equivalent, the paper can be exposed to the new environment.

*When the tape is transferred from an uncontrolled environment to a test laboratory environment with a relative humidity of 40 - 50%, equilibrate the temperature as described in the previous item. Before use,  expose the paper tape to the test lab environment for 3 to 5 days to ensure the humidity in the lab has time for the paper to adjust.

Transport and long-term storage:

*Norman Tool's paper tapes are packaged for warehouse storage as well as air, road and sea shipments. Before opening the package, transfer the paper to the testing laboratory as recommended in "Changing the Paper Tape Storage Environment.

Warranty and shelf life:

*Norman'Tool tapes are guaranteed for 6 months. If stored properly, the shelf life can be as long as several years. The paper should be replaced if it has become visibly discolored due to prolonged storage, or if it has been damaged by direct contact with water or moisture. Wear quality can be checked by comparing the test results with a new strip using a calibration plate.
